Madappally is a small village in Vatakara ( Kozhikode district ) of Kerala in South India.
Government College, located at Madappally is a co-educational college administered by State Government of Kerala. The college was established in the year 1958 as a first grade college.

This institute of higher education is the biggest in this part of the state. The campus is on a small hillock in Onchiyam Panchayath near N.H. 17 and facing Arabian Sea between Vatakara in the South and Mahe in the North.
ARAKKAL TEMPLE
This ancientArakkal Temple temple at the seashore of Madappally is one km towards the west from the NH, 52 km north from Calicut . Devotees of this locality believe that this temple is about 700 years old. This temple belongs to ’MUKUVA’ a fishing community populated mainly at Madappally and Korapuzha in Kozhikode District .
Arakkal Pooram (Malabar Pooram)
The most important Festival of Arakkal Temple is POORAM. Seven days pooramahotsavam begins with ‘kodiyettam’ in Rohini (star) day and ends with Araat on Pooram starting in the month of ‘MEENAM’ Thousands of devotees take part in the festival and receive blessings of God and Goddess in and around the main temple. This temple originally belongs four families of this locality. About 35 years back this temple was handed over to the community through a registered deed keeping the right of ‘Uralanmar’ to perform Pooja and other rituals of this temple. Since then every year a committee is elected for the smooth and effective administrator of the temple.
